TGOM, Part 7 – in which we begin to believe
that this *will* all work! I have all of the furniture in now, just waiting on the decor items from Etsy. I also need to hang the copper pipe I have, and replace the ceiling light and put the hanging lamp on the wall. But it’s actually getting close to done!
The last photos are how it looks with just my lamp on…so much better than my ‘before’ photos
Oh…I’ve decided that this is *my* room. The Boy can do his schoolwork at my white desk, or he can use his computer desk I’ve set up in another room. I want this to be all girly
TGOM, Part 6 – In which we make some progress.
The walls are painted, the molding/trim is not. This is because the trim is painted in layer upon layer of oil based paint. Right now, I’m not patient enough to scrub it, strip it, and apply oil based primer and paint again. I tell myself that what peeks through the furniture will add to the shabby look. Yes, that’s what I’m trying to accomplish!
Work has been at a standstill for a couple of days because the chair I bought was missing 2 crucial screwish things that meant it wouldn’t stay together. Seeing as how staying together is vital to the act of being a chair, we had to wait until it could be exchanged for another identical-yet-functional piece of furniture. It should be put together tonight, along with my new bookcase/standing desk.
Monday I shall call the electrician, again, and see if I can encourage him to come do the wiring for the room. By then, though, I want to have everything else in place. I picked up some odds and ends, mostly odds, for decor – I have to wait on the Etsians to ship them.
Here is the office with painted walls, and the new carpet, plus pics of the cool Etsy loot.
TGOM, Part 5 – In which we decide
that even though Valspar Brushed Pearl looks *nothing* whatsoever like it did in the store samples, it still may work.
It’s not at all shiny. I don’t know if it will dry shinier, but I doubt it. However, I think it may work this way. I can’t decide if I want to put another coat on it, or not. Going to leave it overnight and see how I feel in the morning. It kind of looks like someone did a very, very poor job of applying stucco. And then they got fired.
