back!

Thanks to my friend Kritin, I’ve spent the entire morning looking at craft blogs and am inspired. I want to do more, and more importantly I want to take more pictures and blog more. So here I go, jumping in feet first.

Malachi’s First Sewing Project

Malachi the other day at the fabric found this bat fabric that he just HAD to have!  We decided to make a blanket with it.  I figure it was a simple enough of a sewing project for him.  He helped pick out the fleece backing as well.  He was very clear that it had to be green, since that’s his favorite color.

Malachi helped me cut the fabrics down to the right size.  He told me “this is fun Mommy!”  He then helped guide the fabric (with a little help) through the sewing machine.  His patience started to run thin (as did mine) as we were doing the top stitch.  He did get a kick out of trying all of the different stitch patterns on my sewing machine.  He thought they were “silly stitches.”

He’s mighty proud of his new blanket, as am I proud of him for finishing his first sewing project!!

some super girly diapers

Oh goodness, I’m in love.  These totally make me want to have a girl!!  I’m so glad I got the chance to sew these for a friend’s twin girls.  They still need their snaps before they can go out – but you get the idea.

I got bored….belly casting

Well, I can’t decide if I want to do a belly cast or not.  What on earth would I do with it once it’s completed.  There’s no way, as much as Mike respects pregnancy and birth, that he’d be okay with hanging something like that in our house.  So, for fun tonight I decided to paper mache my belly.  Seemed like a good use of the newest yellow pages that they seem to insist on sending to my door each year.

It was fun watching my belly jump and bounce with Asher’s movements while I was drying the paste with the hair dryer!  Now to decide if I want to do a cast for real.

Diaper Sewing

I got fluffy mail today!!  The mailman brought me some adorably cute Ooga Booga knit print for fitted diapers and some pale pastel pink for a diaper order.  I’m excited about those because they’ll have ruffles on the tush of them:)

I also completed sewing three other diapers for an order today.  They just need snaps and they’ll be ready to go out the door!  Hopefully the boys will go to bed early so I can get the three diapers finished tonight as well as get the diaper cuts made with the fabric I just got.
