Hubby was finishing school, the car needed new brakes, etc etc etc it was always something. Only in our case it's a lot worse than $3,000. I hear the national average is more like $30k, and we're not that bad...but a lot more than 3. We are getting a big tax refund this year (yay for baby coming before the new year!) and we will be fully paying off one card, and hopefully mostly knocking out a second. Unfortunately we'll still be on as tight a budget as ever, but at least the thorn in our side will be a little bit smaller, right? It's frustrating to only be able to make baby steps, but I have to keep reminding myself that even if they are little steps, they are steps in the right direction.
